We were lucky enough to catch an Edward Weston show at the Getty in LA a couple of years ago. While I found the museum itself overwhelming (scale, site, collection, crowds and architecture-wise), it was still a particularly wonderful experience given we then drove straight off into the very same Californian desert that featured in many of the photographs. I read recently that Weston’s beautiful young assistant/model/muse/collaborator/wife of the 30s and 40s, the writer Charis Wilson, died this year, aged 95.
